I was once connected before at CitraMina Seafoods Group of Companies, a leading distributor of tuna and other fishery's products. Althougth this company has been already computer-based information equipped. There are still aspect of thier system which i think should be changed. One example is in thier store or market division wherein some products that has been sold and already registered from the POS and are not spontaneously deducted from the Inventory Systems and resulted to a Loss product and it should be charged to the cashier which in fact its not her fault but to the system. So i think thier Inventory System should be change and improve for the welfare of employees, staff, and the management and eventually they will make a better services to thier customer..

All those trends are basically important in improving the needs of the company specially in their Information Systems.Fastest growing company should have ventured in this new form of information systems.

Just like here in Gensan City, for example The CitraMina Group of Companies the leading player of tuna industry.I can justify this because i was once connected in this company.I saw how important is the IT in company, specially for them because they have different branches nationwide.With the used of MIS the headoffice will easily traced thier daily Inventories and Sales from thier different branches nationwide.There are actually fastest connection and communication with all thier staff nationwide.That has been made successfully because of management information systems.But not only that there still have a lot of aspects in different department of the company thats has been benefited with this MIS.

managers and employees will make use of information as a strategic/competitive advantage over other competitors through the use of Information Resource Management or IRM.with this systems managers has the aid of making managerial decision effectively and effeciently. and even they can use available info services in support of transaction based systems. as well as employees may also encourage to participate in th integration of functionally adjacent system. and eventually company resources may be used effeciently and effectively because of this new info systems.

'MIS' is a planned system of collecting, processing, storing and disseminating data in the form of information needed to carry out the functions of management. According to Phillip Kotler "A marketing information system consists of people, equipment, and procedures to gather, sort, analyse, evaluate, and distribute needed, timely, and accurate information to marketing decision makers." (Kotler, Phillip and Keller, Kevin Lane; Marketing Management, Pearson Education, 12 Ed, 2006)


The terms MIS and information system are often confused. Information systems include systems that are not intended for decision making. MIS is sometimes referred to, in a restrictive sense, as information technology management. That area of study should not be confused with computer science. IT service management is a practitioner-focused discipline. MIS has also some differences with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as ERP incorporates elements that are not necessarily focused on decision support.


Professor Allen S. Lee states that "...research in the information systems field examines more than the technological system, or just the social system, or even the two side by side; in addition, it investigates the phenomena that emerge when the two interact." [2].
